Alberta Bill 11 – Changes to Benefit Coverage
Effective October 1, 2026, Alberta Coverage for Seniors and Alberta Non-Group Coverage will become payors of last resort.
What this means for you
If you have coverage through another benefit plan, eligible claims must be submitted to that plan first before Alberta Coverage for Seniors or Alberta Non-Group Coverage will consider payment.
As a result:
• Eligible prescription drug claims and certain Supplementary Health Care benefits must be submitted to your Alberta Electrical Workers’ Benefits Plan first.
• The amount reimbursed may change because the order in which plans pay is changing.
• Your Alberta Electrical Workers’ Benefits Plan annual or lifetime maximums may be reached sooner, which could result in increased out-of-pocket expenses.
What you need to do
Please inform your pharmacist and other healthcare providers about all benefit coverage you have, including coverage through your Alberta Electrical Workers’ Benefits Plan and any other benefit plans.
This will help ensure that claims are submitted to the appropriate payor in the correct order.
Benefits affected by this change
The benefits impacted include:
• Prescription drugs
• Ambulance services
• Clinical psychological services
• Home nursing care
• Chiropractic services
Pension Benefit Increase and New Pension Option
Notice to Plan Members, Pensioners and Beneficiaries
Pension Benefit Increase Effective January 1, 2027
We are pleased to announce a 3.5% increase to pension benefits, effective January 1, 2027. This increase applies to active members, retirees, and all members’ accrued benefits up to December 31, 2026. It reflects the Trustees’ ongoing commitment to maintaining the value of your pension benefits.
New Pension Election Option Effective January 1, 2027
We’re also excited to introduce a new joint and survivor pension option for members who have a Pension Partner at the time that they retire. Any Plan member who retires on or after January 1, 2027 with a Pension Partner will have (in addition to the existing joint and 60% survivor option), a joint and 100% survivor pension option.

2026 Stakeholder Meeting Update
Please be advised that the 2026 Stakeholder Meeting will no longer be held in person. Instead, we will be providing a filmed video presentation addressing questions submitted by our Stakeholders. This format will allow us to share important information and provide answers to your questions in an accessible and convenient way. Further details, including when the video will be available, will be announced on the EBFA website.

Prescription drug claims can be sent to ClaimSecure at:

· uploading the claim using your eProfile account at claimsecure.com, or
· submitting a PhotoClaim using the ClaimSecure App on your smartphone.
All other claims should be submitted to the Fund Office for payment at:

· logging into to the website (click here)
· sending a facsimile to 780-465-0808
· emailing a pdf document to [email protected]
