Local 993 Kitimat Project

For those of you that have a desire to travel to the LNG Kitimat job, please see below, an email from Business Manager Glen Hilton.

An update on 993 covid policy

We anticipate that ALL jobsites and customers places of work will be under a Vaccine mandate by January 1st 2022

LNG Canada will be imposing a 2 Vax policy by December 1st,

Site “C” is heading that way as well according to Bonny Henry our PHO. Right now there is enhanced testing on project and in camp.

PM Trudeau stated again this morning that all places of work under federal jurisdiction will be having a vaccine mandate very soon. Domestic air travel will be requiring this October 31 and this will affect flights to our projects as well.

In anticipation of these measures Local 993 will not be clearing any travelers without proof of vaccine to any of our projects for the foreseeable future or our own unvaccinated members to sites with mandatory covid vaccination timelines.

Also any applicants for membership or travel cards will be under the same rules.

We are putting the rights of the majority of our members to go to work in safe locations above the rights of people to stay unvaccinated."
