The training is mostly hands on testing that will be helpful in all aspects of the electrical industry. Every electrician should be familiar with the operation of Meggers and Hipots. This may be the only opertunity you will ever have to dismantle a 1200 amp breaker for an inside look. It will provide electricians who are new to primary testing the basic knowledge required to perform acceptance testing of the medium voltage switchgear 1000 to 38000 Volts.

Length:  40 HOURS
Prerequisites: Journeyman Electrician/ Power Systems Electrician

This is a practical course that covers:

  • the basic function and operation of the hardware and components,
  • the purpose of the required tests to be performed,
  • the applicable test standards and the test procedures to be followed,
  • the hazards and safety requirements for testing,
  • the connections and operations of the test equipment and
  • the test forms to be filled and data analysis

The training is specific to the:

  • Metalclad Switchgear;insurtion and extraction of 1200 amp Breakers,CT and PT testing Bus Bar Test
  • Vacuum circuit breakers;hipot, contact resistance, interlocks
  • Load break disconnects;safety and operation
  • Dry-type transformers;ration test, NGR tests, temperature controller
  • Cable;highpot @ 60,000 volts
