This course will provide electricians who are new to primary testing the basic knowledge required to perform acceptance testing of the medium voltage switchgear.

Length:  40 HOURS 

Prerequisites:      Journeyman Electrician/ Power Systems Electrician

                           Completion  of  Crossover to Power Systems

This is a practical course that covers:

  • the basic function and operation of the hardware and components,
  • the purpose of the required tests to be performed,
  • the applicable test standards and the test procedures to be followed,
  • the hazards and safety requirements for testing,
  • the connections and operations of the test equipment and
  • the test forms to be filled and data analysis

The training is specific to the:

         Metalclad Switchgear

         Vacuum circuit breakers

         Load break disconnects

         Dry-type transformers
