Financial Assistance

The Electrical Industry Education Trust Fund of Alberta has been reimbursing Apprentices since March 1999 for their Technical Training.  This fund is available to all eligible members for their Electrical Apprenticeship as well Journeyman taking another trade or course that has been approved by the Joint Education/Apprenticeship Committee, and who meet the requirements below:

  • Must apply for Tuition Assistance prior to starting each Technical Training year.
  • Must be a member in good standing with IBEW Local 424 (i.e. dues up-to-date)
  • Must be eligible for Education Benefits at start date of his/her Technical Training.
  • Must have completed, registered, or paid for all compulsory courses corresponding to the apprenticeship year when they hand in the application.  If the compulsory course is not completed, you must do so within six months of completing the Technical Training.
  • Must meet all criteria within six months of technical training completion date (i.e. receipt and marks need to be handed in by the six month mark).

The reimbursement is for 100% of the TUITION FEES ONLY (do not cover books, administration fee, test etc).
