What are your hours of operation?
We are open Monday–Thursday 8:00 am to 4:30 pm and Friday 8:00 am to 3:30 pm
How do I register for Courses available at the training center?
You can either register in person at the training center, or register over the phone Edmonton (780-462-5729) Calgary (403-291-2787)
When should I apply for Financial Assistance?
Tuition Assistance must be applied for prior to your first day of school. Forms are available on our website or can be picked up at the training centre.
Why do I have to apply prior to my first day of school?
When Tuition Assistance was first offered by the Electrical Industry Education Trust Fund of Alberta, the Board of Trustees required members to apply prior to their first day of school to ensure proper budget and management of the Trust Fund to reimburse tuition.
What if I forgot to apply prior to my first day of school?
A letter must be written to the Education Board of Trustees explaining why you were late submitting your Tuition Application.
Other than the Electrical Tuition Assistance application, what other paperwork do I need to submit to receive my reimbursement?
A copy of an itemized receipt showing payment for school and your letter from the Apprenticeship Board showing successful completion.
How do I become eligible for Tuition Assistance and courses?
What courses do I need to take in order to receive my Tuition Reimbursement?
Each Electrical Training Period requires different courses to be reimbursed they are:
1stPeriod-CSTS
2ndPeriod-Conduit Bending
3rdPeriod-First Aid
4thPeriod-You have one of the following four options:
- Over Head Crane with Hoisting, Rigging and material handling certification
- Aerial Work Platform and Fall Protection
- Electrical Heat Tracing
- Intro Hoisting and Rigging
How long do I have to attend the required courses for my Electrical Training Period?
You have 6 months after your last day of school to complete the required courses.
What trades can I get reimbursed for with the Apprentice Tuition Assistance Application?
The trades that are accepted for reimbursement are:
- Power System Electrician
- Utility Lineman
- Welding
- Instrumentation Technician
- Boom Truck Operator
- Millwright
Only CSTS and First Aid are required for all Technical Training.
